New Delhi, has set up counters for medical staff for screening of incoming passengers, as advised by the health ministry. DIAL and other authorities at the airport including APHO, CISF Immigration and airlines are working closely with Ministry of health, Ministry of civil aviation to communicate to incoming passengers about the screening facilities being provided at the airport.

The Cabinet Secretary, Sh KM Chandrasekhar, held a meeting (17-Apr-09) to review various aspects of Civil Aviation Security. This was a follow up of a meeting held on 07-Feb-09 in the backdrop of the incident that had taken place at the IGI Airport, Delhi on 01-Feb-09 resulting in an emergency landing of a flight due to the disruptive behaviour of a passenger.

INDIA : Indigo Airlines, Kingfisher Red and Kingfisher Airlines will have privilege to be the first airlines to operate from the brand new Domestic Terminal 1D (T1D) at Indira Gandhi International Airport. Terminal 1D is set to commence commercial operations from 19-Apr-09.

Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) joined (26-Feb-09) the league of the country’s modern airports with the inauguration of the new Domestic Departure Terminal 1D (T1D). The terminal was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Minister for Civil Aviation, Sh. Praful Patel in the presence of Smt. Sheila Dikshit, the Hon’ble Chief Minister, NCT of Delhi and other senior officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and regulatory bodies.

The Government approved (09-Feb-09) the levy of Development Fee (DF) by the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) at INR.1300/- per departing international passenger and at INR.200/- per departing domestic passenger with effect from 01-Mar-09.

The 3rd Runway of the Indira Gandhi Airport, Delhi became operational from 6 a.m. on the 25-Sep-08. The first flight to land at the airport will be an Air India Flight, scheduled to land at 6.15 a.m. These decisions were taken at a meeting of the Ministry of Civil Aviation with all stakeholders, chaired by Joint Secretary, Shri K.N. Srivastava.
