INDIA : Spicejet, IndiGo and Kingfisher have identified a new way to minimize their spends on agency commissions and GDS charges. Under the leadership of Federation of Indian Airlines (FIA), these three airlines are founding a new online travel agency (OTA) - Rang7 - which will sell air tickets for them. The FIA is expected to sign this agreement in their upcoming meeting in 3rd week of May.

INDIA : Indian has signed a tripartite agreement, leading to the formation of the proposed joint venture MRO. The other signatories were Airbus and Bangalore based Jupiter Aviation and Logistics, who is the exclusive strategic partner to EADS in India for MRO and life cycle support of commercial aircraft.

INDIA : National carrier Indian Airlines has put the diamond city of Surat in Gujarat on the air map of India, with the introduction of a daily direct flight from Delhi to Surat from today, 06-May-07. Surat has thus become the 54th domestic destination on Indian's network and the 4th city in Gujarat, after Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Jamnagar, to be linked by Indian.

INDIA : Indian launched six times weekly Delhi-Patna service with A320/B737 equipment on 10-Mar-07. Meanwhile, Alliance Air, the wholly owned subsidiary of Indian Airlines announced (08-Mar-07) plans to launch daily Kochi-Agatti service in Jul-07, with ATR-42 equipment.

INDIA : CFM International announced plans to establish an aircraft engine maintenance training school in New Delhi in 2010. The 1,000 sq m facility will provide training to up to 500 engineers p/a for maintenance and inspection of CFM56-7B and CFM56-5B engines, which power B737s and A320 aircraft. CFM has similar facilities in China, France and the US.

INDIA : Indian Airlines and CFM International signed an MoU to establish a JV MRO facility in India for CFM56 engines. A location and timeframe for the development were not disclosed. The facility will perform the full spectrum of services, from engine disassembly to piece parts and in-house component repairs for CFM56-5B and CFM56-7B engines.

INDIA : Indian Airlines announced plans to launch services from New Delhi to Melbourne via Singapore with A330 equipment on 01-Nov-07. Frequency details were not disclosed. The carrier also plans to launch services to Guangzhou on the same date. Indian reportedly plans to connect services from Mumbai, Hyderabad, Calcutta and Bangalore to Melbourne via Singapore from Jan-08.
