The Government today has approved the proposal for release of equity support of Rs.800 crores in two equal monthly installments to National Aviation Company of India Limited (NACIL).

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs today approved release of Rs.800 crore as equity induction in the National Aviation Company of India Limited (NACIL). The equity induction would not only ease the cash flow situation of the company but would also preclude borrowings from the markets at a high cost.

For the financial year 2008-09, Airports Authority of India (AAI) earned revenue of Rs.4185.95 crores and profit before tax Rs.1115.72 crores and profit after tax Rs.687.21 crores and has paid Dividend of Rs.137.40 crores to the Government of India. This includes Rs.100 crores as Interim Dividend and Rs.37.40 crores as Final Dividend.

Director General of Civil Aviation based on preliminary report of accidents/incidents at times order pilots/AME not to exercise the privileges of their licence pending finalization of investigation. It has been reported that in few cases it took long period before these pilots were permitted to exercise privilege of their licences. Therefore in order to streamline the procedure it has been decided that following will be followed in future:

The Second India-US Aviation Partnership Summit is being held in USA. It was inaugurated on 7 December, 2009 and will conclude on 9 December, 2009 in Washington D.C. The Minister of Civil Aviation, Shri Praful Patel informed the Lok Sabha today that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has decided to commission a study to determine Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions by airline aircraft in India and set up an emission database with 2005 as base year. As the proposal is yet in its preliminary stage, a time frame cannot be specified.
