IndiGo, the award-winning low-fare airline that is redefining the airline business in India, took the delivery of its 25th A320 aircraft on the opening day of the Hyderabad Air Show, ‘India Aviation 2010’. The delivered aircraft is powered by IAE engines. The delivery ceremony was presided over by Honourable Minister for Civil Aviation, Shri Praful Patel.

The first of the new generation Airbus A320 aircraft on order joined the Air India fleet today, with the arrival of a mint fresh aircraft at Begumpet Airport, Hyderabad, where India Aviation 2010, India’s first civilian air show is on. The aircraft also becomes the 74th own aircraft of the 111 on order, to join Air India’s fleet.

Lufthansa Technik is to supply components for the three Airbus A310F aircraft belonging to Indian cargo airline Deccan Cargo and Express Logistics Pvt. Ltd. (DCEL). The company has signed a ten-year Total Component Support (TCS®) contract to this effect, under which it will repair and overhaul the A310F fleet’s components. Local subsidiary Lufthansa Technik Services India will ensure direct on-site supply of components to the airline’s home base in Bangalore.

Singapore Technologies Aerospace Ltd (ST Aerospace) today announced its Panama facility has redelivered its first Embraer E-190 aircraft to Copa Airlines after maintenance. The new 135-foot 3-inch (41.2 m) wings incorporate the latest aerodynamic technologies to fly farther and more efficiently. Air India has successfully carried out a major ‘2C’ Check for the first time on an Airbus 330 aircraft resulting in substantial savings in foreign exchange. The ‘2C’ check was carried out with in-house expertise. The aircraft, after the major check, was test flown at Mumbai today. Air India has two leased Airbus 330 aircraft in its fleet.

Air India y SR Technics prolongan su contrato
SR Technics and Air India are extending their collaboration. The existing engine services contract for the maintenance of Air India Express’ CFM56-7B engines has been expanded to include the CFM56-5B engines of Air India’s Airbus A320 Family fleet. The fleet, which currently consists of 27 Airbus-A320 Family aircraft, is planned to be increased to 43 aircraft by 2010.

India's national carrier, Air India, which has been inducting new aircraft at an average pace of two/three aircraft a month since Jul-07, will continue to do so in the next fiscal, notwithstanding the global slump in air travel during the recent past. Air India, with over 60 years of experience in operating international flights, is confident that the slump will be short-lived and traffic to/from India will once again witness an uptrend considering improved business environment and the enormous potential that India offers as a tourist destination.

Airbus is adapting production rates of its A320 Family programme from 36 to 34 a month from Oct-2009 onwards. Production rates of the A330/A340 family will be paused at the current level of 8.5 a month, and not increased further as previously planned.

With the induction of the new aircraft, Air India Express will further expand its operations. Air India Express will launch its once a week flight to Dubai from Srinagar with this new aircraft with effect from 14-Feb-09.
