INDIA : National carrier Indian Airlines has put the diamond city of Surat in Gujarat on the air map of India, with the introduction of a daily direct flight from Delhi to Surat from today, 06-May-07. Surat has thus become the 54th domestic destination on Indian's network and the 4th city in Gujarat, after Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Jamnagar, to be linked by Indian.

INDIA : Air India increased capacity to Dubai, with a second daily service to/from Mumbai and Delhi from 26-Feb-07, with B767-300 equipment configured with 12 executive class and 249 economy seats. With these additional services, Air India operates 37 services to Dubai from Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Goa and Lucknow. It has a codeshare arrangement with Emirates on nine services to Kochi and Chennai. Air India's budget carrier Air India Expess also offers 33 services per week to Dubai and Sharjah.

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES : Etihad Airways announced plans to triple capacity to India in the next 18 months, subject to government approval. The carrier plans to launch new services to Southern India and the introduction of a second daily service to Mumbai and increase in Delhi frequency from three times weekly to daily.

CANADA : Air Canada announced plans to suspend daily Toronto-Zurich-Delhi service in May-07, citing insufficient demand. The carrier will continue to service India via Star Alliance partners, although details were not disclosed.

INDIA : Indian Airlines announced plans to launch services from New Delhi to Melbourne via Singapore with A330 equipment on 01-Nov-07. Frequency details were not disclosed. The carrier also plans to launch services to Guangzhou on the same date. Indian reportedly plans to connect services from Mumbai, Hyderabad, Calcutta and Bangalore to Melbourne via Singapore from Jan-08.
