Jet Airways interested in acquiring stake in bmi
(XFN-ASIA) Sir Michael Bishop, the chairman of airline bmi, has been approached about a potential sale of his stake in the company by Indian carrier Jet Airways, according to The Sunday Telegraph.

Jet reportedly expressed an interest before Christmas in conjunction with a leading Middle-Eastern airline, believed to have been Emirates.

The report claims the approach was made through an unidentified third party to 'test the water' and that the two sides have held no formal meetings to discuss any possible offer.

As the owner of 11% of the take-off and landing slots at London Heathrow airport, the future of bmi has become a major issue in the aviation industry.
