Air Sahara resumed (22-Jun-06) operations as a stand-alone airline, following the collapse of the Jet Airways takeover bid.
A trigger was the failure to obtain security clearance for Jet's chief, Naresh Goyal, to join the Board of Air Sahara. Meanwhile, Air Sahara has written to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation seeking the cancellation of registration to Jet Airways of its B767 aircraft wet leased to Jet Airways and scheduled to be deployed on the Amritsar-London route from 28-Jun-06. Air Sahara also announced plans to acquire 16 new aircraft, including two B737-800s by Aug/Sep-06 and another two in early 2007. |
