Kingfisher, Kingfisher Red and Indigo first airlines to change to new Domestic Terminal at Indira Gandhi
Indigo Airlines, Kingfisher Red and Kingfisher Airlines will have privilege to be the first airlines to operate from the brand new Domestic Terminal 1D (T1D) at Indira Gandhi International Airport. Terminal 1D is set to commence commercial operations from 19-Apr-09.

While Indigo and Kingfisher Red will shift from Terminal 1B to Terminal 1D, the Kingfisher Airlines will shift from Terminal 1A. Other airlines would be shifting their operations to the new terminal in next phase. The schedule of remaining airlines’ transfer would be announced shortly.

The modern terminal features several new facilities which will improve the travel experience of domestic departure passengers flying out of Delhi.

    * Terminal 1D to raise domestic departure capacity of IGIA to 10 million passengers per annum.
    * Modern 4 level in-line baggage handling system to eliminate baggage X-ray prior to check in
    * 72 check-in counters and 14 security channels will ensure quick processing
    * Spacious security-hold area with extensive seating, passenger amenities like Lounges, F&B and retail.
    * Special contact zone for passengers with special needs and unaccompanied minors
    * Baggage handling area on a separate level allowing greater space for passengers

In addition to the transfer of airlines, the traffic routing at IGIA’s domestic terminal would also undergo a change. DIAL will also be communicating with passengers and stakeholders for information on airlines shifting to the new Terminal and the new route layout at IGI Airport’s domestic terminals through various media channels.
