Paramount Airways officially announced (17-Feb-09) the launch of its cargo operations with Chennai as its hub. The airline has optimised the belly space of all its five aircraft and will operate with inbound and outbound flights to destinations like Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Trivandrum, Kochi, Vizag, Tiruchirapalli, Ahmedabad, Goa and Pune.
Paramount Cargo will be ideal for sizeable courier loads and perishable commodities like floriculture, aquaculture, livestock; besides various other materials like electrical components and medical cargo. It has a dedicated warehouse to meet the growing business and is equipped with scanning facilities, weighing scale, security and highly skilled professionals. The freight will carry 100 tonnes of cargo overall per day and the service will offer point to point delivery.
Commenting on the launch, M.Thiagarajan, Managing Director, Paramount Airways said, “Paramount Cargo is a part of the overall strategic business development that will contribute 10-15% towards our overall revenues. This is a definitive value addition to our business operations and will redefine cargo movement on a branded scale.”
M. Thiagarajan added, “Despite unfavorable economic conditions, we have remained cost efficient and will be agile to market conditions and will continuously explore other growth opportunities.”
According to industry estimates the Air cargo traffic will grow at over 11.4% p.a. over the next 5 years to exceed 2.8 million tonnes by 2010.
